CHURCH PLANTING

We are deeply committed to spiritual multiplication at every level.

Healthy things reproduce. Healthy Christians make other disciples. Healthy City Groups grow and start other City Groups. Healthy leaders train up other leaders. Healthy churches grow and start other churches. We long for spiritual multiplication to happen at every level in our church so that in the next 25 to 30 years, there are at least that many new gospel-preaching churches in this region.

In light of that, we believe that while God calls some people to stay at Rock Hill, he calls many people within Rock Hill to go and begin new gospel works in different neighborhoods, cities and areas throughout Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

OUR CORE IDENTITIES

The gospel of Jesus defines our five core identities:

Worshipers – The problem with humanity is not that we stop worshiping; the problem with humanity is that we worship the wrong things. We were created to worship God, but have chosen to worship and serve created things rather than our creator (Romans 1:18-32). Through the finished work of Jesus on the cross we are free to once again live lives of worship to him. Worship encompasses all of life, even the smallest details of our lives. As worshipers of God, we no longer live for ourselves but rather for the glory of God (1 Cor. 10:31).

Family – We are not simply saved as individuals into a personal relationship with Jesus, we are saved “into” a family called the church. The church is given different names in the Scriptures but the primary one is that of a family or the “household of God” (Eph. 2–3). As adopted sons and daughters, we relate to God as our Father and each other as our brothers and sisters “in Christ.” This leads to living within a loving and honest community full of truth and grace that displays the power of the gospel to a watching world (John 13:35).

Servants – In the gospel, it is Jesus who serves us in freely giving up His life in order to rescue us who are rebellious against him. By grace through faith we have been united to Jesus and therefore our lives are no longer our own (1 Cor. 6:19–20). Jesus’ call to his disciples is to come and die daily to pursuing ultimate comfort, safety, joy, and satisfaction in anything outside of him. The point of our lives is to love and serve God and others. We do this by taking a radically different approach to how we live our life. Like Jesus, we exist not to be served but to serve.

Witnesses – God not only saves us, he also sends us. God has reconciled us (restored the relationship) to himself and to each other and has now entrusted us with the “ministry of reconciliation” to share with others (2 Cor. 5:16–21). The risen Jesus declares to us that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. In light of his authority over all things, he sends his disciples to be witnesses of his saving grace to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). We are to live as sent people to proclaim in word and deed the wonder of God’s redeeming love.

Learners – The word disciple literally means learner or follower. The gospel is the good news of the worth and the work of Jesus. The Scriptures draw us into the story of God and tell us how we are to live within his story. What we believe about God and why we believe it matters deeply for Christian living. We are to constantly study, learn, meditate on and grow in our understanding of God and his love for us in the gospel.
