We are a multigenerational church family with a passion to reach the next generation of college students.

A NEXT-GENERATION CHURCH

Since we began in 1994 with 200 college students and 24 community members, reaching students has been essential to our mission as a church. We believe the university is the most strategic mission field in the world, so we prioritize reaching the students of Iowa State University through our college ministry, The Salt Company.

A GOSPEL-FUELED CHURCH

We are a family of broken people who worship a perfect Savior. We believe that the gospel of Jesus and our commitment to follow him should shape every aspect of life. The greatest news in the world is not what we have done for God, but what God has done for us in Christ.

A GATHERED CHURCH

The church is not a building or a weekly service, but the gathered community of God’s people. As we gather, we hear from God as the Bible is taught and we respond to God with worship and praise.

A CHURCH FAMILY

We believe the Christian life is life together, where we walk in relationship with Jesus and one another. Beyond our weekend gatherings, Connection Groups are places for men and women to walk in accountable relationships, to develop intentional friendships and live out the “one anothers” of Scripture.

AN OUTWARD-FACING CHURCH

We want others to know Christ, so we share the love of Jesus as we speak the gospel and show the love of Jesus as we live for the good of our neighbor. By our words and actions, we pray that people in Ames will see our good works and give glory to God in heaven.

A SENDING CHURCH

While we strive to grow a vibrant church in Ames, our primary goal is to fuel a multiplying gospel movement through church planting on university campuses. We believe that our measure of success is not in our seating capacity, but in our sending capacity. We choose to live with open hands and sacrificial generosity to fuel a movement toward university students that will impact our nation and our world.

We desire to plant at least one additional church in a major university city every year. Through our network, The Salt Network, we pray we will be able to plant a thriving church and college ministry in every major university in North America and 100 global cities. As of now we have 14 churches and Salt Companies with staff preparing to plant several more in the near future.
